The State of Dog Daycare & Boarding Prices in Calgary

Calgary dog owners literally build spreadsheets — phoning daycare after daycare because almost nobody publishes a price. We collected every rate that businesses actually post, so you can stop calling around.

Calgary has 86,715 licensed dogs (City of Calgary open data, June 2026) and likely well over 100,000 in total. Keeping one costs an average of about $3,000 a year before daycare or boarding even enters the picture. Yet of the seventeen daycare and boarding facilities we track across Calgary, Airdrie, Cochrane and Okotoks, only six publish a daily daycare rate on their own website — and holiday boarding routinely books out months ahead with deposits.

The spread says more about format than quality. The $30 end is a country property west of Okotoks where dogs spend the day outside; the $59.50 end is an inner-city, kennel-free operation with daily pack walks, where a monthly pass drops the effective rate to $37. Mid-city facilities cluster tightly at $41–$49 — that's the going rate for a full supervised day in Calgary proper. Nearly every reputable facility also requires a temperament assessment before your dog's first day, and several of the most popular ones run waitlists for new dogs.

Rates are the businesses' own published figures as of July 2026; many rate pages are undated. Eleven of the seventeen facilities we track publish no single-day rate at all. Always confirm current pricing directly.

Boarding is the bigger squeeze

Published overnight rates run $43–$60 per night, and home-based sitters on marketplace apps average about $45 — but the real story is scarcity, not price. Holiday weeks book out months in advance, some facilities take new boarding clients by referral only, and platforms take a cut of roughly 20–28% from home sitters, which is why many of the best independents aren't on them at all. For a two-week summer vacation, expect $600–$850 at a facility — and to book it in spring.
